Profil > Seputar MTI
Most students of the MTI Program come from various industries, both service and manufacturing, including PT Telkom, PT Pertamina, PT LEN, the Ministry of Industry, PT AJ Manulife, PT KAI, PT Openport Indonesia, and Perusahaan Umum Jasa Tirta II, and have held managerial positions within these industries. This reflects the trust that the industry places in the program. Several alumni have demonstrated that the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies in the MTI program have contributed to facilitating their career advancement and promotions within their companies. This is further supported by the average GPA of 3.76 among MTI graduates in 2020, indicating the high level of competence of the students.
As part of Telkom University, which is ICT-based, the MTI program is characterized by its application and analysis of ICT aspects in the industry, which is also reflected in its learning process. There are four areas of specialization within the MTI Program that determine students’ concentration and guide the direction of their thesis research, namely: Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Enterprise Digital Systems, Industrial Management, and Human Factors in Product Design and Development. The learning process, which also incorporates industry-based case studies, further enhances students’ abilities.
Various supporting facilities and infrastructure—such as residency rooms, classrooms, an open library, as well as IT-based resources like the master’s thesis information system—help facilitate and improve the quality of education and teaching in the MTI program. Students’ involvement in faculty research has also been proven to enhance their competence in applying their knowledge in both industry and society, further demonstrating the program’s role in contributing to the welfare of the Indonesian nation.
In addition to Diploma and Bachelor’s programs, Telkom University has also established Postgraduate Programs. Currently, Telkom University offers four Master’s degree programs, consisting of Master of Management, Master of Electrical Engineering, Master of Informatics Engineering, and Master of Industrial Engineering. In the future, Telkom University plans to expand further by opening Doctoral Programs, with the hope that the Tri Dharma of Higher Education can be carried out through various levels of education, thereby providing greater benefits to society, from upstream to downstream.
The Master of Management program was established in 1993 based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia No. 70a/D/0/1993; this program is managed under the Faculty of Economics and Business. In 1999, the Master of Electrical Engineering program was established under the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education No. 429/DIKTI/Kep/1999. In 2009, the Master of Informatics Engineering program was established under the Faculty of Informatics, based on the Decree of the Directorate General of Higher Education No. 424/D/T/2009. Most recently, in 2018, the Master of Industrial Engineering program was established under the Faculty of Industrial Engineering, based on Decree No. 960/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/IV/2018.
As part of the development of Telkom University’s Postgraduate Programs, on December 20, 2019, the Postgraduate and International Class Unit was formed under the Directorate of Postgraduate and Advanced Learning (PSAL), in accordance with the Organizational Structure and Work Procedures of Telkom University, Number: KEP.1457/00/DGS-HK01/YPT/2019. Previously, all governance and coordination between study programs fell directly under the authority of the PSAL Director. The Postgraduate and International Class Unit was established with several objectives, including:
Standardizing services, facilities, infrastructure, and learning standards;
Developing multidisciplinary master’s and doctoral programs relevant to real-world development issues faced by society as well as advances in science and technology;
Publishing research results that contribute to the advancement of science and technology; and
Strengthening networking and cooperation with both internal and external stakeholders.
The underlying idea is that educating human resources should not be limited to equipping them with the ability to apply technology in the manufacturing sector but should also enable them to produce innovative technologies. At present, human resources with such qualifications remain scarce. Innovation requires the ability to conduct in-depth analysis of technology. Producing human resources capable of integrating technology into real-world problems necessitates education at the Master’s (S2) level. Master’s education serves as a continuation of Bachelor’s education, with the expectation that through this level, universities in Indonesia can produce graduates who master the state of the art and best practices in their respective fields. Master’s graduates are expected to possess specialization in their area of expertise and have the competence to design and innovate new solutions to improve societal well-being.
With the aim of producing human resources capable of applying and generating appropriate technology in an integrated manner, the Master of Industrial Engineering program at Telkom University was established. This program consistently strives to provide graduates who meet the needs of the industry.
Based on the Decree of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) No. 11286/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/M/IX/2021, the Master’s Program in Industrial Engineering at Telkom University has been awarded an “Excellent” accreditation rating.
Telkom University has successfully obtained certification from the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) for its Master’s Programs in Informatics, Electrical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.
